Age & State Eligibility
Version 1.0-draft · Effective August 12, 2026
SneakBox is available to US residents who are 18 or older, verified at signup, in every state except Washington and Idaho. This page explains why those requirements exist, how we enforce them, and what happens if your situation changes — for example, if you move.
1. You must be 18 or older
You must be at least 18 years old to create a SneakBox account, and every account is limited to one per person. This is a hard requirement, not a checkbox: we verify age and identity at signup through a third-party identity-verification vendor, and we re-verify identity before your first shipment. Accounts that cannot complete verification cannot purchase.
Purchases made by anyone under 18 are voidable. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has created an account or used your payment method, contact support@sneakbox.app immediately — we will freeze the account and unwind the purchases. See the Refund & Returns Policy for details.
2. Why 18+
Two reasons, both practical. First, SneakBox sells randomized products: you know the odds and the guaranteed minimum value before you buy, but not the exact pair you’ll reveal. We believe decisions with a randomized element should be made by adults, full stop. Second, using SneakBox means entering real contracts — payment authorizations, shipping arrangements, title transfer on delivery — that minors generally cannot be bound to. Restricting the service to verified adults protects minors and keeps every transaction enforceable for everyone.
3. United States only
SneakBox is available only to residents of the United States, and we ship only to US addresses. Your account address, billing address, and shipping addresses must all be in the US. We do not currently serve US territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands) — territory support may come later, and this page will be updated if it does. For shipping specifics, see Shipping & Fulfillment.
4. Excluded states: Washington and Idaho
Residents of Washington (WA) and Idaho (ID) cannot create accounts or make purchases, and we do not ship to addresses in those states.
Here’s the honest explanation. Every SneakBox box delivers a real pair with a guaranteed minimum retail value, at published odds, with a provably fair reveal (Fairness). We believe that makes it retail. But the laws in these two states are written or interpreted in ways that create genuine uncertainty about randomized-product sales, and “probably fine” is not a standard we’re willing to operate on. Until we have clear legal footing in a state, we exclude it.
The excluded-state list can change in either direction as laws and guidance evolve. This page is the authoritative, current list — check it if you’re unsure. If your state’s status changes, we will notify all account holders in that state directly.
5. How eligibility is enforced
Eligibility is checked continuously, not just at signup. At the time of each purchase, all of the following must be consistent with an eligible state:
- Your location, determined by IP geolocation at the moment of purchase;
- Your billing address on the payment method; and
- Your shipping address(es) on the account.
If these disagree — for example, an eligible billing address but an IP address in an excluded state — the purchase is blocked and we may ask you to re-verify before purchasing again.
6. No VPNs or location spoofing
Using a VPN, proxy, GPS spoofing, a forwarding address, or any other method to disguise your location or state of residence is a violation of the Terms of Service and grounds for account termination. If an account is terminated for location circumvention, any unshipped revealed pairs and store credit are handled as the Terms of Service provide for terminated accounts — do not assume you can extract value from an account built on a false location.
7. Moving to a different state
Update your account address promptly when you move — eligibility is based on where you actually live, and shipping tax is based on where pairs actually ship (see Shipping & Fulfillment).
- Moving between eligible states: update your address and carry on. Nothing else changes.
- Moving to an excluded state: your account is not terminated, but new purchases are frozen while you reside there. Your existing Vault claims remain yours: revealed pairs may still be shipped (to an address in an eligible state, per this policy and the shipping policy) or sold back for store credit at 85% of listed market value. Your store credit remains on your account and becomes usable for purchases again if you move back to an eligible state.
8. One account per person
Each person may hold exactly one SneakBox account, enforced through identity verification. Duplicate accounts are closed, and opening a new account to evade a limit, a timeout, a self-exclusion, or a state/age restriction is grounds for termination of all associated accounts. This rule also makes protections like self-exclusion meaningful — see Responsible Purchasing.
9. Verification and your data
Identity verification is performed by a specialized vendor under contract with us; we receive the verification result and the minimum data needed to enforce these rules, not your full documents. How verification data is handled, retained, and deleted is covered in our Privacy Policy. Questions about verification data specifically can go to privacy@sneakbox.app.
10. Changes to this policy
We update this page whenever eligibility rules change — a state added or removed, territory support, or changes to verification. The version and effective date at the top always reflect the current rules, and material changes are announced in the app and by email to affected account holders before they take effect.
11. Questions about your eligibility
Not sure whether you qualify, stuck in verification, or planning a move and want to know what happens to your Vault? Email support@sneakbox.app or visit Support — we’d rather answer an eligibility question before you buy than untangle it after.
